　　首先，要瞭解這種題目的特點：同義變換的程度很大，大到有時要填的那個選項在文章根本找不到同義詞或近義詞，而是需要看懂某些語句的意思才能做對，所以難度還是很大。

　　我在課堂上主張學生可以通過語法和詞彙知道先猜一下哪幾個答案可能正確，然後再結合文章中的內容答題，這樣效果和正確率很高很多。那麼下面我們就按這方法過一遍。

　　首先，14題。

　　The Nicaraguan National Literacy Crusade aimed to teach large numbers of illiterate ____ to read and write.

　　很明顯，空格裡應該填的是人，所以答案只有兩個可能的：B. men and women 和 G. adults and children

　　15題。

　　Public health experts have known for many years that there is a connection between child health and _____.

　　很明顯，空格內填和child health有關的因素，所以答案集中在: A. child literacy(這個是保守猜法，其實這個答案是很容易排除的);F. maternal literacy; H paternal literacy(我們不能重女輕男是吧，這個答案理論上也是可能的，但是等會看了文章後，輕易的也能排除);J. family wealth(錢還是很重要的，所以這個選項也有可能)

　　16題。

　　這題猜起來也很容易，肯定是某位元專家或組織，所以答案集中在C. an international research team和I. a National Literacy Crusade

　　17題。

　　此題意思大致為，經過調查，發現哪些因素(與child health)已經排除了。這題猜起來似乎範圍有點大，主要有這麼幾個：A. child literacy; D. medical care ; F. maternal literacy; H. paternal literacy(這個答案其實是不可能的，因為這裡在研究的問題是child health和literate mothers之間到底有沒有聯繫，和父親是沒有任何關係的，所以水準高的人直接可以把這個答案排除); J. family wealth。雖然乍看之下，覺得猜了沒有意義，其實，看了這幾個選項，可以對答案的大致方向有個概念了，等會定位就容易了。

　　18題。

　　此題選項範圍和17題大致相同，因為現在看下來，肯定是這幾個選項內有的和child health有聯繫，有的沒有聯繫。in other words，17和18是同一屋簷下的。

　　好了，猜完了，我們可以開始根據關鍵字以及句子的大致意思開始定位了。

　　14 題比較容易，因為有Nicaraguan National Literacy Crusade，所以定位在P90第一段第一行開始到第三行，其中...For those women who learnt to read through the campaign,...可以看出，只能選B

　　15題也不難，根據順序原則往下找，發現第一段的最後一句話，或者第二段的第一句話都說的很明顯，...newly-literate mothers...所以答案是F

　　16 題也很容易，根據順序原則往下找，第二段第2行到第4行，其中有... so he and his colleagues are looking at other factors。he 這裡指的是上文中的Peter Sandifor of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine,所以答案只能選C

　　17題有些難，乍看之下似乎難以定位。這題充分反映了學生的liguistic sensibility(對語言的敏感度，達到一定的水準才有此境界)。主要看第2段的第四行開始，They are working with the same group of 3,000 women, to try to find out whether reading mohters make better use of hospitals and clinics, opt for smaller families, exert more conrol at home, learn modern childcare techniques more quickly, or whether they merely have more respect for themselves and their children.其實黑體部分就是研究人員覺得可能的因素，那麼哪個因素沒有提及呢?!換句話說，選項裡沒有提及的那個就是已經被eliminated 的因素，所以答案選的是J

　　最後18題。

　　這題其實也不難，第3段，第2行開始，Sandifor says that there is increasing evidence that female education, at any age, is 'an important health intervention in its own right.'所以答案選F

　　注意，在instructions裡題目已經明確指出，NB you may use any letter more than once。一般這就說明，一定有個答案會使用兩次。
